If you are fan of old skool 90s R'n'B, you might recognise this famous line.
The line was made famous on Janet Jackson's Got Til It's Gone released in 1997. Q-Tip was making reference to the sample of Joni Mitchell's Big Yellow Taxi:
Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got 'Till it's gone
Q-Tip affirmed this maxim; it seems to be the case that we don't really appreciate what we have until we no longer have it. I've seen lots of posts on social media about all the activities people are looking forward to being able to do once the current national lockdown is lifted.
How true it is that we often take for granted the blessings we experience daily. I guess now is a really good opportunity to evaluate the gifts we possess. Schools? The NHS? Our loved ones? Freedom? Life?
Let's not wait until these gifts are gone before we appreciate them.
Let's maximise the moments we have while we have them.
